Welcome back to our returning families and a big welcome to our new families that have started with us this new term. We are confident it will be a fun filled year. We would like to thank you all for your patience and understanding during the transitional period of our previous coordinator leaving and our new one arriving. If you have any questions regarding your child’s/children’s schooling please do not hesitate to talk with one of the teachers.
Let us take this opportunity to introduce you to the staff: We have two teachers, Jean Sedor and Adele Curtis. Nelam Pangalia and Yashmin Khan are the support workers for this school year. Please do not hesitate to ask them any questions you may have, they will be more than happy to be available to talk about your children and their time with us at Reach.
September and October are always busy months and this year is no exception.
PUMPKIN PATCH FIELD TRIPS
We will be going on a field trip to the Herb Farm on Westham Island on the following dates.
Thursday 18th AM class will meet at 9:15am
PM class will meet at 1:15pm
Friday 19th AM class will meet at 9:15am
PM class will meet at 2:00pm
Please be on time as the farm has a very tight schedule. Dress your children appropriately for the weather and don’t forget a bag for your pumpkin!
The price of the trip is $7 per child and includes the cost of a small pumpkin. Children 2 years and younger are free.
Teachers are not allowed to drive children to the field trip, however, if you cannot stay you can drop off your child/children and then pick them up after the trip. The field trip usually lasts about 1 hour.
This year we have grown faster than we had anticipated, hence the shortage of cubbies. We have ordered more and hopefully they are on the way. What would make it easier for all is having the children’s clothing clearly labelled.
We are very pleased to announce that we have not lost our wonderful Scholastic helper; without her help our school would not be able to purchase the books and toys that we do from Scholastic. Like everything else that Scholastic provide we are trying to make life as easy as possible for parents and caregivers. If you don’t object we would like to give your e-mail address to our volunteer and that way she can converse with you and help with your orders. If you would prefer that we do not give out your e-mail address please could you let us know no later than October 15th. Our volunteer has worked with us for over four years and has been vetted by Reach, just as all of our volunteers have been vetted.
Now that the weather has started to turn we would like to remind parents to dress your children for the weather, we will still be taking the children outside as often as we can.
Cold and Flu season will be upon us soon so please do not send your child/children to school if they have the following symptoms;
Fever above 38oC or 100oF
Aches and pains
Attached to this news letter you will find a calendar of events. This will give you the dates of all of our school closures for the year.
Once again we would like to thank you for choosing Reach as your child’s preschool. If you have questions after reading this news letter please do not hesitate to talk with the staff; if they cannot answer your questions they will direct you to someone who can!
Alexandra Vivanco is the preschool coordinator . You can also contact her via email: firstname.lastname@example.org or at 604-946-6622 ext 328
