MEET OUR FOUNDATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Reach Foundation Board of Directors is a volunteer group of individuals elected by Reach Society Board of Directors to raise over $5 million needed to build a new facility in Ladner for Reach Child and Youth Development Society. We are very proud to introduce to you our Foundation Board of Directors:
Denis joined the Reach Foundation in 2014. He has had a long history of serving on various government boards and community groups, from Treasurer at Ladner’s Sacred Heart School to serving on the Board of the Delta Hospice Foundation. After a long career with Westshore Terminals LTD Partnership he recently retired as Vice President & General Manager.
Born in Dublin, Ireland Denis attended the University College Dublin graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in 1970. He was an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ireland, and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia.
In addition to the Reach Foundation Denis is currently Chairman of the Tsawwassen First Nations Economic Development Corporation.

Katherine joined the Reach Foundation Board of Directors in 2013 and brings a wide range of skills with a background in public affairs, communications, customer engagement and marketing.
Katherine has worked at the Port Authority for over 20 years as is currently Director Trade Development at Port Metro Vancouver. In addition to her Bachelors from UBC Katherine has Diploma from the Cambridge Academy of Transport, UK, and earned her Accredited Business Communicator (ABC) designation from the International Association of Business Communicators. She has lived in Delta for over 20 years, has two children and loves to kayak on warm summer evenings.

I live and work in Delta and I’m excited to serve on Reach Foundation as a director. I am already aware of the vital work Reach Child and Youth Development Society does in the lower mainland and the difference it makes to children with special needs and their families. My daughter has special needs so I know how Reach programs help.
As Operations Manager at Global Container Terminals Canada, I bring connections and experience to my new role at the Reach Foundation. I hope to bring funding and long lasting relationships to this great community resource that over 1000 families in Delta, Surrey and Langley benefit from annually.

Tom joined Reach Foundation in 2013 as Treasurer, and sits on both Reach Foundation Board of Directors, Reach Society Board of Directors and the Reach Finance Committee. He has been a resident of Tsawwassen for over 30 years and was formerly Publisher of the Delta Optimist, as well as President of BIV Media Group and Publisher of the weekly Business in Vancouver. He had been retired for almost two years when he was asked to return to the Delta Optimist in June of 2012. Prior to his initial retirement, Tom had spent 25 years in the publishing business. Tom has served with numerous industry and community organizations. He is currently a Governor of the Lower Mainland Better Business Bureau, a member of the Rotary Club of Ladner, and a director and treasurer of the Delta Community Foundation
Valerie joined the Reach Foundation Board of Directors in January 2012. She has several years of experience as an Education Assistant with both high school and elementary students and is currently an Administrative Assistant with the Delta School District.
Valerie has volunteered in the community for over 20 years, helping with events such as the Delta Hospital Foundation Gala, Ladner May Days and Dry Grad, and early years volunteering with the Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Diabetes Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation and United Way Camp.

Agnes has been in the investment industry for over 25 years and is currently a Portfolio Manager/ Investment Advisor at Odlum Brown Limited. Reach welcomed Agnes in 2010 to the Foundation Board as a Director and Financial Advisor, and she has since worked tirelessly supporting Reach fundraising initiatives and events.
As a CFP (Certified Financial Planner) with a PMA (Portfolio Manager) Designation and FCSI (Fellowship of the Canadian Securities Institute) Agnes brings expertise and guidance, as well as a passion for making a difference in her community to the Reach Foundation Board.
“I have been searching for an organization in my community where I can offer my services and experience in the financial world. The Reach Foundation is that organization. I am honoured to be part of the Foundation and am very excited about the campaign of raising funds for the project at hand: The Reach Kinsmen Centre.”
Jeff is CEO and President for Fraser Surrey Docks and Pacific Rim Stevedoring. He has a wealth of experience in managing organizations, leading projects, solving problems and achieving success. He has served on both private and public boards in the past, and was President for South Delta Minor Hockey Association which gave him insight into the needs and expectations of the community from a user, facilities and resource basis.
Jeff has a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance Major) from the University of British Columbia and a Diploma in Shipping and Marine Operations from British Columbia Institute of Technology. He has been involved in numerous industry and stakeholder groups and in addition to the Reach Foundation, currently sits on the board of the BC Maritime Employers Association.
Jeff is married and has three children and resides in Delta. He is actively involved in his community working with several community groups and associations.
“I heard about Reach through some of my neighbors who use the services, as well as through community events I attended and current Board members. I am hoping to give back to the community to help Reach achieve their growth and expansion goals through sharing my time, resources, contacts and experience.”
Bob works in the real estate division of Translink where he leads various projects that focus on leveraging real estate holdings to generate revenue from non-taxation resources.
As Bob progressed in his career and expanded his professional network, he felt strongly about connecting with Reach and helping to strengthen and support the local community. He was searching for a way to be involved in his community and was particularly interested in working with an organization that benefited children and families. As a result, after learning about Reach, Bob decided to volunteer his time with the finance committee with our organization and in 2014 he joined the Reach Foundation. He brings a varied skill set, well rounded approach and strong business acumen with him.

I learned about REACH when my son was supported by services and it’s important for me to give back to a cause that I’m passionate about and support other families to receive the help we once did.
I have a diverse set of skills from having owned and operated my own business with my husband; working with the Terry Fox Foundation; and for the last 10 years working at Simon Fraser University (SFU) as Manager of Admissions and Recruitment. My role at BeedieGraduate Business Programs at SFU allows me to stay connected with the business community and offer experience in product management.

Remembering Norman Stark
“Reach Foundation Director Norman Stark passed away on December 14th, 2016. He was a generous man and a community leader whose genuine satisfaction came from helping, supporting and encouraging others. Norman had a lasting impact on Reach and he was instrumental to the success of our capital campaign and in doing so he helped create the foundation that will help generations of children to come. Norman guided us and taught us, inspired us and lead by example and with integrity. He touched many of our lives deeply with his wisdom and caring ways. Norman will live on in our hearts and in our memories and in the lives of all the children who will receive help as a result of Norman’s commitment to Reach. In honour of his work with us, Norman’s family kindly requested that donations be sent to Reach Foundation in lieu of flowers. Since his passing, we have received an outpouring of support in his memory.”

Remembering Linda Otto
“Linda was introduced to Reach as part of a Ladner Rotary Club contingent charged with organizing an Easter Egg Hunt for preschoolers. From the moment Linda met these children she was smitten and shortly thereafter she began her new volunteer career as a Reach Foundation Board Member. She worked tirelessly day and night to raise the funds needed to create a new centre in Ladner where more children and youth could be helped. At Linda’s passing, Reach’s building campaign had generated 2.3 million of the $4 million plus dollars needed. Linda’s contribution to Reach will forever be recognized on a plaque in her memory in the new Ladner based child development centre .”
