Is it really the end of September already? What a wonderful first month of preschool it has been at Reach! All the children seem to have settled in to their new routines extremely well. We have enjoyed watching new friendships blossoming and the reconnecting of friends from last year. You should all be very proud of your little ones as they are doing an amazing job of learning their new routines, being responsible helpers, and thoughtful friends.

October is a very busy month for us! We will be discussing fall, and observing all the changes this time of year brings. Our field trip will enhance our appreciation of this colorful season. Halloween preparations will be in the works, too! Halloween is almost as important as Christmas in the life of a three and four-year-old. The day of the Halloween Parties, (October 30 for M-W-F and October 31 for T-Th classes), the children are encouraged to wear simple, comfortable costumes so they can move about freely and comfortably in the classroom and bathroom. If your child wears a costume that they might want to take off, please make sure that he/she has clothes to change into. Please refrain from sending candies and sweets. We will have our regular snack and give a special nut free treat to each child.
OUR PHILOSOPHY ON ART
Our philosophy regarding art is that the process I more important than the product. This does not mean that the final product is not important to your child. It is, and your fridge or wall spaces will be adorned with their masterpieces throughout the year! However, art, like all our activity areas in the preschool, is a medium for learning, and it is the learning that is important, not the quality or quantity of the finished products.
The teachers Amanda and Terri-Lyn, together with our support workers Jazmin, Rafiya and Simardeep, are excited and happy to be with your children and strive to provide an environment rich in possibilities to explore, think, deduce and discover.
Oshrat Zemel is the preschool manager; she will be at the preschool every Monday and Tuesday. You can also contact her via email: firstname.lastname@example.org
CHILD & FAMILY SUPPORT PLAN MEETINGS:
We would like to remind parents that there are no regular preschool sessions on Tuesday, October 10 and Wednesday, October 11. We will be holding our Support Plan Meetings for the children who are receiving extra support at the preschool. Regular preschool classes will resume on Thursday, October 12.
THANKSGIVING DAY HOLIDAY:
The preschool will be closed on Monday, October 9 for the Thanksgiving Day Holiday.
Kirsten will be at our preschool taking individual and class photos of our children and teachers on Tuesday, Oct 17 and Friday, Oct 20th. She will take a “head & shoulders length” photo of your child, then develop the proof and return it to us shortly. You can then order the photos (no obligation of course!) and they will be ready before our Christmas break.
