Reach ABA Program for Children with Autism

What is Reach ABA Program?

The Reach ABA program is for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) living in Delta, Surrey, Langley and other areas of the Lower Mainland of B.C. It is a skill-building program that uses Applied Behavioural Analysis principles to teach young children with autism the functional skills they need.

An individualized behaviour plan of intervention, covering all child development domains, will be developed by a Behaviour Consultant.

Services include consultation and training from a Behaviour Consultant, Speech-Language Pathologist and Occupational Therapist. Teams include trained and supervised Behaviour Interventionists (BIs). Families hire their BIs to implement the intervention program.

Due to changes to services for children and youth diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families, the Reach Early Intensive Behavioural Intervention (EIBI) Program has been adapted.

ABA Program teaching methods:

Discrete Trial Training (DTT)
which incorporates error-less learning, prompting, and reinforcement.

Natural Teaching Strategies (NTS)
used to ensure children acquire new skills in natural contexts. NTS is based on the child’s interests and incorporates choices, reinforcing materials and reinforcing consequences.

Children’s progress is monitored and updated at monthly team meetings. Behaviour Interventionists receive ongoing support and supervision to ensure programs are implemented appropriately.

All Behaviour Consultants, Speech-Language Pathologists and Occupational Therapists are listed on the Registry Of Autism Service Providers (RASP)
